Planning permission has been granted for an exciting new development in the form of a whisky auction distribution and visitor centre, which will provide a boost to the rural economy by way of jobs and tourism. We helped our clients, Whisky Hammer - an online whisky auction platform - identify a site just outside Pitmedden, which provided exactly what they were looking for in terms of presence, outlook and connectivity.

Despite being on a former quarry, this land was not zoned for development. Our design nestled the building into its hillside setting and reflected the character of existing agricultural buildings in the area. With this approach, we gathered support from the planners on all aspects of the proposal other than the land zoning - and subsequently managed to persuade the planning committee of the proposal’s wider benefits to secure consent, allowing the business to expand to serve the ever-growing thirst for whisky!
