On 31st January 2019 we were delighted to have the opportunity to share the West Balmedie Development Proposal with the local community. The public consultation event was well attended and some valuable feedback was received – not to mention a few new ideas and suggestions. The West Balmedie Development Proposal is for a mixed use development, on land formerly occupied by East Aberdeenshire Golf Course, to augment and enhance the amenities already available in Balmedie.

A consultation event is an essential part of the design process for the expansion of any settlement, to ensure the vision is fit for purpose and meets the needs and aspirations of the local population. At the centre of the development are facilities such as a new health centre, primary school and playing fields. The Green Belt designated area of the site will be left undeveloped, a central area of residential amenity green open space is proposed and areas of existing woodland will be retained and augmented as landscape corridors.
