Brick is not the most obvious material you would associate with Aberdeen, but if you look around it can be seen, generally in boundary walls and out-buildings. We took this as inspiration for our extension at Louisville Road which is currently being self-built by our client (doing a great job!), using Ibstock Staffordshire Blues to match the bricks used as door reveals and quoins (corners!) of part of the existing building. The brick will be complimented by a precast concrete string course at high level and glazed sliding screens to create a crisp contemporary expression to the new addition. The dormers are new also and adopt a more traditional form.
