This £1.5m project involved extending the existing hotel by converting
two adjacent buildings both of which were listed as being of historical
or architectural importance. The design process involved extensive
detailed negotiations with Historic Scotland and the local planning
conservation officer.
Difficult fire and noise issues had to be resolved at detailed design
stage in order to obtain building warrant and fire officer approval and
to meet the client's demanding requirements.
Sadly the project did not proceed to construction due to a decline in the
hotel market in the city but the project is featured in this site to
demonstrate the scale and complexity of historic building conservation
work we can carry out for clients.
